ABOUT SUSAN MARQUEZ MEDIA

Susan has always been a joy to work with. She knows marketing and how to get results. She was never a pushover when she was holding the purse strings, but gave thoughtful and deliberate consideration to ideas and opportunities.

EXPERIENCE

Been there, done that, and I want to do it again.

Since 2001, I have been writing about people, places, spaces, events, music, businesses, food, and travel. The things that make life interesting. I seek to find the backstory. The tidbits you never knew. The connections you never imagined.

I write for a variety of publications, from local lifestyle magazines to publications that celebrate a region, to national niche publications. So far, I’ve written over 2800 articles about more topics than I knew existed. I’m ready to write 2800 more. Here are a few places my work has been published:

  • Hometown Magazines (Madison County, Rankin County, Clinton)
  • Eat.Drink.Mississippi
  • Okra.
  • Our South
  • Delta Magazine
  • Delta Business Journal
  • Delta Farm Journal
  • Central Mississippi Real Producers
  • The Bluegrass Standard
  • Ways & Means (Mississippi Methodist Rehabilitation Center)
  • NOLA Family

  • Millsaps Magazine (Millsaps College)
  • Verve
  • Portico
  • Mississippi Today
  • The Clarion-Ledger
  • The Atlanta Journal Constitution
  • The Madison County Herald
  • Tunica Voice
  • Lawrence County Press Register
  • Real Producers Magazine

I have the utmost respect and regard for Susan Marquez both personally and professionally.

She is a delight to work with and to know.

QUALIFICATIONS

I’m legit.

I have a degree in radio-TV-film from the University of Southern Mississippi. My career path led me to where I am today, a full-time professional freelance writer. Over the years, I’ve gone from writing and producing thirty-second television commercials at two different NBC affiliates to writing radio, newspaper and magazine ads, to press releases. In 2001 I began writing feature articles and, like Forest Gump kept running, I kept writing. And writing. And writing. I have written over 2800 articles for newspapers, magazines, business journals, trade publications, online news sources and more.

I write because I am curious. I write because it’s a great way to make a living. I write from my home office in Madison, Mississippi. I write from our pied a terre in New Orleans. I write from the road, wherever my travels my take me. I write for readers. I write because I love writing.

Give me a topic, a budget, and a deadline, and I’ll start writing for you.

With indomitable optimism, dynamic skills as a writer, marketer, communicator, and genuine concern for other people, Susan Marquez boldly sets and works to achieve big goals. With faith, family, friends, and fun as her foundation, this creative businesswoman exhibits an entrepreneurial spirit with the heart of an advocate for others. Expect great things from Susan -- she gives great good to every endeavor!
